it's because invariably, when someone gives you flowers, they're really trying to say one of the following:

sigh. at least it's not prom season.

I can teach you basic HTML so you don't have to do the 12345 thing.
I thought the 12345 thing was a pretty clever solution, myself.
I already have HTML for dummies, but it wasn't dumb enough.
